Sharm el Sheikh diving: choose the activity first
Sharm el Sheikh diving is easier to compare when training and boat excursions are treated separately. A course reserves time for instruction and progression; a boat programme may offer an introductory dive or dives for certified participants as optional additions. Choose the activity that matches your experience before comparing destinations. A reef name, an appealing underwater photograph and a low starting price do not describe the same thing as the actual dive package.
The local reef areas include Ras Mohammed, the Strait of Tiran and sites closer to Sharm. Operators plan destinations around weather, sea conditions and the experience of the group. The Ras Mohammed guide and Tiran guide explain the areas; use this page to distinguish a training commitment from a day on a reef boat.

Open-water and advanced course options
The course package includes hotel pickup and drop-off, a PADI-certified instructor, theory lessons and open-water dives whose number depends on the option. It distinguishes a three-day open-water course from a two-day advanced open-water course. Pool training belongs to the three-day option. Select the course category deliberately rather than reading a general two-day headline as a promise that every qualification takes that length of time.
A yacht cruise is included with the advanced or three-day option. Equipment rental, the certification and classroom book, and the marina additions have their own selection or payment conditions. Meals and drinks are excluded. Set aside the course days in the wider trip plan before adding unrelated excursions; the course structure is a different commitment from buying an extra dive during a snorkeling cruise.
Boat packages at Ras Mohammed and Tiran
The Ras Mohammed and White Island boat programme includes snorkeling equipment, guided snorkeling stops, lunch, unlimited soft drinks and hotel transfers by air-conditioned vehicle. Diving for beginners or certified divers is optional, with one or two dives according to the selected option. Diving equipment is included for selected options. Choose that package explicitly if going underwater with scuba equipment is the purpose of the day.
The Tiran boat programme offers a full-day cruise with selected reef stops, guided snorkeling, snorkeling equipment, buffet lunch, drinks and hotel transfers. Its introductory or certified diving and diving equipment also depend on the selected package. These two excursions let companions compare a snorkeling day with a diving addition on the same type of programme. For the broader choice of cruise formats, see boat tours from Sharm.
Reef experience and the size of the guided group
Jackson Reef is described by the official tourism information as a destination for experienced divers; Shark and Yolanda are also described as advanced sites. Avoid choosing a dive simply because its name appears on a list of famous reefs. The relevant combination is the site, current conditions and your experience. A Tiran itinerary is also a reef-area excursion rather than an assurance of landing on the island.
A local operator gives a concrete example of a maximum of six divers per guide. That describes its guided underwater group, not the capacity of every boat or the number of people booking together. Private transport, a private guide and an exclusive boat are separate services. The private excursions page explains those choices when exclusive arrangements matter to your party.
Seasonal planning and the Blue Hole
A local dive operator describes diving through the year and winter as its windiest season. Treat that as operational experience rather than an assurance that every reef can be visited on every date. The weather guide separates climate information from a forecast. Choose the trip for its activity and allow the actual destination to respond to sea conditions and the group.
The Blue Hole near Dahab is a separate destination. Its underwater arch belongs exclusively to technical diving, not to an introductory dive or a snorkeling route. Read the Dahab guide for that excursion area instead of extending a Sharm reef package to cover it. Companions who prefer surface observation can compare snorkeling excursions or underwater-window boat trips.
Questions about your excursion
Does every boat ticket include diving?
The Ras Mohammed and Tiran programmes described here offer diving as an option. Their snorkeling equipment and guided reef sessions belong to the base activity; select the diving package for the chosen dive and its equipment.
Which course duration can I choose?
The course package distinguishes a three-day open-water option and a two-day advanced open-water option. Theory, pool training and open-water sessions follow the chosen course, so reserve the matching dates.
Does a private transfer mean a private dive boat?
A transfer describes the land journey. For an exclusive boat or a private underwater guide, choose a service that explicitly includes that arrangement. A guided dive group can also be smaller than the whole boat party.
